Bolder Boulder

Women 's Elite Race

On Monday Eric, Peanut and I went into to town to meet up with Shannon for breakfast. Little did we realize we would have to drive through the Bolder Boulder course. For the last two years, I've only seen the aftermath of the Bolder Boulder. This year, I was able to see hundreds of runners on the course. The amount of people who run this thing is amazing!

The women in the photo above are the leaders from the Elite race. I've been told they were running six miles, and they were hauling ass! It rained quite steadily, but as least there wasn't risk for heat stroke!

After bagels and coffee at Moe's in Boulder, and watching the runners, I had to run off to work. I'm sad that I missed the Boulder Creek Festival this year, but maybe I'll be able to make up for it at other summer events like the Teva Games and HERA Climb4Life! Those two events are coming up so I will post many pictures!

Trip #1 Mt. Evans 2008!

Super Pretty View from the boulders of Mt. Evans
Self Portrait of Peanut and MyselfRyan on Clear Blue Skies

After today's hike to Mt. Evans bouldering, I believe it is safe to say my cardiovascular health has suffered over the winter. I also believe the muscles in my legs became quite atrophied as they threatened to collapse after completing the first one-third of the hike! Needless to say, by the time I reached the boulders I didn't feel much like climbing! I spent the better portion of my time trying to fix my crappy camera. I did manage to take a few photos however, so I thought I'd share.

Cute girls!

Makala and Nevaeh Gilman
Here's a photo of my really good friend, Shelley's, little girls. They're so cute! They talk to me on the phone sometimes :o) Shelley and I used to work together at Griffin Housing Services, in Mankato, Minnesota. We had some good times! We were also roommates for a few months in a crappy little house in Rapidan, Minnesota. On the day we moved in Nic (Shelley's now husband) and I were cleaning the kitchen adn I got electrocuted. I always said "This place is going to burn down in an electrical fire!" We made a pizza that afternoon and after we ate it, inspected the stove/oven. Nic found a bunch of mice had made a nest in the insulation of the oven. Disgusting. At least we got a new oven out of the deal. Several months after we moved out of that house an electrical fire started in the attic above what used to be my bedroom. The place burned to the ground! Scary! Anyway, Shelley sent me this photo of the girls. She was pregnant with Makala when we all lived together, amazing how fast time passes!

School's out!

This blog is mostly a test. I've had this account for some time but have never really figured out how to use it. Since I'll have more time over the summer, I thought maybe I would start a blog. If and when I start nursing school, I thought it might be nice to have a blog about my experiences. I'm looking at this as a photo-journal.

Yesterday was my first official day of school. I took my last final, a Pathophysiology Exam, now I'm patiently waiting for my results! We shall see. I'm hoping to get some scholarships eventually. For now however, I'll just be hanging out with my dog Peanut on the couch :o)
